Sean McVay surprised many people a couple of years ago when he openly contemplated retirement, but the Los Angeles Rams coach says he remains committed to his current job.

During the latest installment of his “The Coach McVay Show,” it was brought to McVay’s attention that he currently ranks second all time for most wins by a Rams head coach. McVay has 69 career regular-season wins, which leaves him 6 shy of John Robinson’s team record of 75. McVay said he was unaware of how close he is to the record.

When asked if he will be back next season to build upon his wins total, McVay said “that I can promise you.”

There was never much doubt about McVay continuing to coach in 2024. A report a year ago claimed McVay was unsure if he wanted to be part of a rebuild after a tough 5-12 season. The coach later said he was committed to the Rams for 2023 and beyond and that he did not want talk about his future to become a recurring discussion.

McVay has admitted that the rumors about him being interested in broadcasting are true, but the 37-year-old is not ready to explore a career change.

It helps that the Rams did not enter a rebuild. They improved to 9-7 with their Week 17 win over the New York Giants and have clinched a playoff spot. McVay has a chance to make another Super Bowl run, which probably has him feeling even better about the future.
