Tiger Woods struggled mightily at the PGA Championship this week, failing to make the cut after shooting 7 over par over the first two rounds. Ultimately, the legendary golfer knows precisely why the two rounds were such a struggle for him.

Woods blamed his lack of tournaments for his struggles, admitting Friday that he wants to play more often but his health has simply not allowed him to.

“I just need to play more,” Woods said, via Dylan Dethier of Golf.com. “Unfortunately I just haven’t played a whole lot of tournaments — and there aren’t a lot of tournaments on my schedule, either. Hopefully everything will somehow come together in my practice sessions at home and be ready for Pinehurst.”

The PGA Championship was only the sixth tournament Woods has played since the start of 2023. To make matters even more difficult, he tends to play in the toughest tournaments, as three of those six tournaments have been majors.

Woods made the cut at the Masters last month, but went into a tailspin over the final two days. He looked no better at Valhalla on Thursday and Friday.

The 48-year-old needs tournament reps to perform more consistently. Unfortunately, his body does not seem to be in position to allow him to get them.
