Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson has been suspended for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy.

The NBA announced on Tuesday that Thompson has been suspended 25 games after he tested positive for two substances — ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033. Both substances are performance-enhancers that are banned under the NBA/NBA Players Association collective bargaining agreement.

Thompson signed a 1-year deal with the Cavs prior to the season. He has come off the bench in 36 games and averaged 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The 32-year-old did not play in the NBA last season.

Thompson was the No. 4 overall pick by the Cavaliers in 2011 out of Texas, so he is in his second stint with the team. He was on the Cavaliers in 2016 when they won the NBA championship.

Some of Thompson’s best seasons came in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 when he averaged a double-double in both seasons. In the 2021-2022 season, Thompson spent time with the Kings, Pacers and Bulls.
