The Seattle Seahawks have made their decision on a new head coach to replace Pete Carroll.
The Seahawks are hiring Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as their new head coach. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said Macdonald had been the team’s top target all along, and the team even would have waited for him had the Ravens made the Super Bowl.

A member of Baltimore’s staff since 2014, aside from one year at Michigan, Macdonald has received plaudits for his work with the Ravens defense. He was also highly regarded for the work he did with the Wolverines in 2021. The Washington Commanders also had serious interest in him, but the Seahawks appear to have been the frontrunner all along.
The hire makes the 36-year-old Macdonald the league’s youngest head coach. It also leaves the Commanders as the only team with a head coaching vacancy.
