The mayor of Los Angeles unintentionally added insult to injury for the Los Angeles Lakers after their season came to an end on Monday.
L.A. mayor Karen Bass got roasted for the message that was posted to her social media page after the Lakers were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets.
“Tough season but at least we won the in season tournament!” the post read. “Proud of our team, @Lakers”
I'm not sure what to say except that this is a real tweet from LA's mayor. pic.twitter.com/7Tfjof8Qca

Bass was absolutely ratio’d for the post, which had some real participation trophy vibes. Before long, the post was deleted and replaced with a more generic message about how the Lakers left it all on the court.
You left it all on the floor — thank you @Lakers

The Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers to win the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament in December. But that ultimately proved especially meaningless since the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the real playoffs. Needless to say, no one on the Lakers is happy about the In-Season Tournament victory now.
In fairness to Bass though, maybe the IST win really did mean something to the Lakers. They did controversially decide to hang a banner for it after all.
