Kendrick Perkins may be a Boston Celtics alum, but he is not taking it easy on the Celtics’ current coach.
The retired former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins went viral Friday for his savage comment about Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla. Perkins made the comment during ESPN’s coverage of the Celtics-Denver Nuggets national TV game.
“If you take his brain out and put it in a bird, the bird is gonna start flying backwards,” Perkins said of Mazzulla.

What a creative way to just straight-up roast a man’s entire existence.
The context here was Perkins commenting on Mazzulla’s supposed inability to get his players easy looks. Perkins criticized Mazzulla’s offensive sets and said that he had the Celtics playing “AAU basketball.”
I'm still not overly enamored of Kendrick Perkins, especially after the crap he pulled on Nikola Jokic last season, but credit where it's due, he definitely called it in this one vis-a-vis Michael Malone and Joe Mazzulla, and Nikola Jokic dominating.#Nuggets @ #Celtics pic.twitter.com/5sgpOTuEPA

Boston suffered a narrow 102-100 defeat to Denver on Friday, snapping an incredible streak of theirs. The Celtics had the ball on the final possession and used two separate timeouts to draw up out-of-bounds plays to potentially tie the game. But both plays fell embarrassingly flat.
The #Nuggets stepped up in their next-to-last defensive possession, especially with Nikola Jokic switching off Kristaps Porzingis to Jrue Holiday…
…but Joe Mazzulla actually probably bailed Denver out by calling time when Joker would more than likely have fouled Jrue. pic.twitter.com/NPcp7tcAun

NUGGETS END THE CELTICS 20-GAME HOME WINNING STREAK!!!

While the Celtics are still an NBA-best 32-10 on the season, they are very disorganized in tight games, which many believe falls squarely on Mazzulla’s shoulders. As for Perkins, who played for Boston from 2003-11 and was part of their 2008 NBA title squad, he is actually harder on his former team than most are.
