Deshaun Watson is trending toward missing another game with his shoulder injury, which has led many to wonder if the Cleveland Browns star is dealing with a more serious issue than it seems. A new report shed some light on what is going on with the quarterback.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com revealed that Watson has been diagnosed with a bruised rotator cuff. The injury is one that can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to heal.
"Deshaun Watson has a bruised rotator cuff and it takes 2-6 weeks to fully heal from such an injury..
This Sunday would be 3 weeks but if he feels ready to go he's gonna play" @MaryKayCabot #PMSLive https://t.co/e0MqQiR0iZ pic.twitter.com/FZCcMc5Zmq

“There’s no structural damage in the shoulder, and I really don’t think that there’s anything more going on than what the reality is. He has a bruised rotator cuff,” Cabot said. “I talked to an orthopedic surgeon the other day who said it takes 2-6 weeks to fully heal from such an injury. This Sunday would be three weeks for Deshaun. If he takes it all the way up to six weeks, then so be it. If he feels ready to go on Sunday, he’ll play.”
Cabot also said Watson was planning to play in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens but did not feel right when he started throwing the morning of the game.
Watson has been sidelined for two weeks, though he only missed one game because Cleveland had a Week 5 bye. He has not practiced leading up to Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Browns have not ruled Watson out for Sunday, but they did make a notable change to their depth chart this week.
Watson has thrown for 678 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions this season. He also has a rushing touchdown.
