The Arizona Diamondbacks kept the receipts on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dbacks officially eliminated their NL West rival Dodgers with a 4-2 victory in Game 3 of their NLDS series on Wednesday. Now Arizona, after winning just 84 games during the regular season, has advanced to their first NLCS since way back in 2007.
After the final out was recorded, the Dbacks sent a cold-blooded tweet the Dodgers’ way. When Arizona won their NL Wild Card series against the Milwaukee Brewers last week, the Dodgers seemingly tried to intimidate them a bit by tweeting the message, “We’ll see you soon, @Dbacks.”

But upon the Dbacks completing the improbable upset of the 100-win Dodgers on Wednesday, they returned the favor. “We’ll see you next season,
@Dodgers,” Arizona wrote back, digging up the Dodgers’ tweet from before the series.

This is probably where that meme from “The Simpsons” of “Stop, stop! He’s already dead!” would apply.
Granted, the Dbacks readily deserve their victory screech here. Not only did they defeat the heavily-favored Dodgers but they swept them (and in highly convincing fashion too). Arizona won the three games by a combined total of 13 runs and never once trailed in the series. They almost completely silenced the Dodgers’ potent bats (especially the superstar duo of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, who went a combined [yikes] 1-for-21) and erupted for nine home runs during the series themselves.
On top of the revenge for last week’s tweet by the Dodgers, there was yet another layer of revenge for Arizona here too. They finally got back at the Dodgers for what happened during their last playoff meeting in 2017.
